They collected pheasants, peafowl and various types of deer. Claude H Conley I instilled a strong interest in his son, Claude M Conley, at a very young age to love and appreciate Hillcrest, the Conley Family and all of its animals. The farm has produced numerous types of crops and has always stayed entrepreneurial in the products that were developed and sold on the farm. The Tennessee Safari Park is located on a century farm owned by the Conley Family since 1858, called Hillcrest. We aim to gain long term sustainability for our world's rare and endangered flora and fauna in their natural environment. The Tennessee Safari Park's mission is to create and provide educational activities and environments for the community and abroad to bring appreciation and conservational awareness for all living things. ***Coming soon to the walk through zoo is an immersive sloth exhibit with a stunning waterfall feature.*** Our large gift shop offers a wide variety of souvenirs, gifts, drinks, and snacks. Why be on the outside looking in like a typical zoo when you can drive right in and join them? As you drive along and explore our drive through safari, animals from every continent but Antartica will come right up to your vehicle windows. Our drive through safari offers the unique experience of close up interactions with exotic animals as well as actually feeding them yourself. It's a sad place, and your entrance fee is only supporting the owner's extravagant personal lifestyle. The Tennessee Safari Park boasts a 7.5 mile drive through safari and a 20 acre walk through zoo. The animals need to be rescued from this place that claims to have rescued most of their 450 animals. This place reeks of "Joe Exotic" and needs to be shut down. The pictures on their website do not accurately depict the actual condition of the zoo. They had pictures painted on the walls, but it wasn't "natural" looking. The enclosures were too small and the windows were dirty. The safari ride was closed when we went, so we didn't get to see a lot of the large animals. One of the guinea pigs had something hanging off of his backend, but I couldn't tell what it was, but it definitely did not look healthy. The animals looked sad and many showed signs of distress, such as hair loss and pacing. We saw a lot of animals with empty water bowls and it was a very hot summer day. The enclosures are too small for the animals and they are not clean at all. We commented to each other that this place must make a lot of money to fund their vehicle choices because the money is sure not going to provide adequate care for the animals. We also noted a nice white Corvette parked by the house on the grounds, along with two other very nice, expensive vehicles. We witnessed one of the owners giving sugar wafer cookies to the monkeys, and when one of the monkeys was not wanting to share with his cell-mate, she swatted his hand. It is not accredited, so its standards are very low. We took the family for a nice outing and came back depressed and on a mission to make sure people know the truth about this roadside zoo. The fact that this zoo gets more than one star is both appalling and shocking.
